Lazarillo de TormesAnonymous · 1554

Your Worship should know, before anything else, that they call me Lázaro de Tormes, son of Tomé González and Antona Pérez, natives of Tejares, a village near Salamanca.

My birth was in the river Tormes, which is why I took the name, and it came about in this way.

My father, God forgive him, had the job of keeping a mill on the bank of that river supplied, and he was its miller for more than fifteen years.

How it works

1

Pick a book.

Choose a language and a level. That sets where the mix starts; the slider adjusts it. No account needed to begin.

2

One word at a time.

A word crosses over everywhere it appears, so you keep meeting it in the story. Tap any word to see it in the other language.

3

The mix moves with you.

The words you already know cross over first. After a few chapters it suggests a little more. Once a week, one line: how far your mix has moved.

It’s reading, not drills. No streaks, no guilt.
